The very first step in creating your personal profile in a social-network is to join a social-network. If not done already you should perform a standard internet search for social networks. You can either join one of the big social networks like facebook, myspace, FriendFinder or Classmates or you be a little more specific and search for a specialty social-networks that addresses one of your interests. After you've chosen the network that is right for you, you need to register with your email and activate your account. Once your account is activated you are ready to start communicating with other people from the network, but before you do this you need to create your profile to give the other members an impression of your personality.
The most important part of your profile is your (main) picture. This is the first thing an other member views and the first impression he or she gets from you. When creating your profile you should upload more than one picture. This gives your future friends a better idea of who you are. It's also a lot of fun to comment on pictures and you will most likely get some funny comments about your pictures to read. Some people recommend to hire a professional photograph for making the pictures. I don't know if I would go so far but, you got to make sure you upload at least one picture because if you have no picture on your profile no one will look at it.

When filling your profile with information you will need to think about some safety issues first. You may want to add you name, but be cautious and don't enter your last name. Your first-name is enough. The same thing applies to your location or address. Don't enter your full address or your exact location if you live in a very small town. Remember that most social-networks are open, meaning that anybody can see your profile, not only the members of the community.
After that you can fill in the rest of the pre-defined fields. Put in as much information as needed but don't overdo it. Too much information can irritate the other members. So keep it short but don't forget anything.
If you follow the rules mentioned above you will be able to create an interesting profile that will gain you popularity in your social-network while being safe at the same time.Jan Weidenbach is the owner of www.punkz.fm. Join us and find your emo girls on punkzFM!
